i18n and Drupal 5.1

  • fr-5.x-1.x-dev (May 21, 2007)
  • es-5.x-1.x-dev (Apr 23, 2007)

After a short absence from my web design life, i18n is back again in a new project. This time I am using Drupal 5.1, so I get to use the latest and greatest version of i18n. I also get to do three languages now: English, French and Spanish. I believe that the documentation is not really clear on many things in i18n, so hopefully this guide will help some people (me included).

I'll start with the installation and basic setup of i18n, and how to get translations going. Following that we will create a translated node. Then we will look at things like block and menus, which is where many people get confused/lost.
